David Chaum Commemorates XX Network's 3rd Anniversary in Video

On 18th November, the XX Network X account posted the following video. Narrated by David Chaum, the XX Network’s Founder, the video looks at how the network has developed, what is happening now, and likely to be seen in the near future as well as thanking all its supporters along the way.

The XX Network launched on the morning on 17th November 2021.

David’s commentary reads as follows:

“Thank you so much for joining us to celebrate this incredible milestone, the three year anniversary of the XX Network mainnet launch. It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come with the XX Network now being almost fully decentralized, not just technically, but also organizationally. We have an independent foundation led by a board and a council elected by you, the XX Coin holders. This is a vision realized, a truly decentralized network in every sense.

Not going to sugar coat it, there have been challenges along the way, but the fundamentals of the XX Network are stronger than ever. No single entity holds too much power over the network, and the foundation has ample resources to continue supporting block rewards, driving growth and funding innovation, and most importantly, we stayed true to our principles, never making compromises that would undermine the mission of the network.

Today, the XX Network spans more than 370 nodes in 39 countries, demonstrating its truly global reach. And the work doesn’t stop there. The team behind the network is constantly pushing boundaries. We’ve seen technical bounties, hackathons and incentive programs already, and there’s much more to come. For example, making the XX Coin easier to acquire and use remains a priority, with exciting developments like Haven, quantum secure bridges and long awaited Postage also on the horizon. Haven is one of the most exciting areas of progress. It’s the XX Network’s, private and secure communications app. As governments worldwide tighten their grip on communications platforms, even banning those they cannot surveil, Haven is becoming more important than ever.

The communication app that prioritizes privacy and freedom is not just a feature, it’s a necessity in today’s world. I’m thrilled to see how Haven’s development is advancing rapidly. It’s fantastic how its developers are preparing mobile web versions and native apps for iOS and Android. This is all making Haven accessible to even more people around the world undoubtedly being a game changer for anyone seeking secure surveillance-resistant private communication in a world increasingly hostile to privacy. Haven represents a hope in a safer digital future.

From a technological standpoint, the network is maturing at a remarkable pace. Upcoming partnerships on the horizon have the potential to bring new opportunities, and the shifting political landscape is creating an environment where the protections of the XX Network are more vital than ever, and regulatory frameworks are improving for projects like ours, further strengthening our position. Looking ahead, I’m confident we’ll see major breakthroughs over the next year. Several groundbreaking tools and technologies that utilize the network are nearing release, further advancing our mission to create a decentralized privacy first future. As we all celebrate this anniversary, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your belief and support make all of this possible.
