xxDK Multi-Platform Example Apps & Demo From Rick Carback

For the last few months, Rick Carback and his team have spent considerable effort updating and adding to the cMixx Development Kit, known as the xxDK. In March 2024, Rick released a set of example apps that run for iOS, Android, React.js (Web) and a golang command line app.

Armed with the new releases, on March 16-17th a hackathon took place in Delhi, India, organised by XX community and council member FlowerTree. In the lead up to the event, Rick held a webinar with a group of around 90 interested students to prime them for the hackathon and teach them how to get started with the xxDK.

As a side effect, this video is excellent if you’re a developer of any level wanting to get started making cMixx enabled apps/dapps. You can watch the whole thing below (you might want to switch to a lower speed!) and read/download the transcript under that.

On release of the multi-platform example apps prior to the Hackathon, Rick added:

“The intent is to show how to work with the library using the Direct Messages module. Each one uses the public libraries I’ve built out since late January on Cocoapods, npm, and Maven.”

The readme in the repository states that the libraries are available for the following systems and languages:

  1. Desktop: Golang (full), C# (partial)
  2. Web (Chrome/Safari): Javascript (Client side rendering), Typescript (Client side rendering)
  3. Android: Kotlin, Java
  4. iOS: Swift, Objective C

Libraries for other languages and plans to make deployment simpler are planned.

The XX Network is always on the lookout for developer talent to contribute and help grow the network using both the xxDK for mixnet applications or other tools to interact with its L1 Substrate-based chain. Multiple avenues are available to fund project ideas including grants from the Foundation and proposals for treasury funds.
