XX Foundation Releases Q2 2024 Roadmap + Interview with Aaron

On 4th April 2024, the XX Foundation published their latest roadmap detailing some of the events we can expect to see in the coming months.

In the build-up to publication, Aaron Welwood (director of the Foundation) joked he had to choose what to keep in or leave out, as there appears to be a lot more in the pipeline:

In summary, the Q2 roadmap describes the following updates:

WXX / DEXs

WXX, the newly wrapped XX Coin features in a few places, showing the commitment for extending the reach of the network further into the established crypto space. This includes the listing of the token on Uniswap, Pancakeswap, the rolling out the EVM bridge (due Q2) and integration into echoexx’s (now Phoenixx’s) beta.

CEX(s)

The CEX listing is also there as one would expect and I think appropriately tucked away at the ‘back’ because this appears to be the one thing that thwarts the goals of previous roadmaps, due to centralised exchanges’ unforeseen behaviour and demands. In this case, personally I think it’s a case of understating the reality of what we will see, given what has already been seen – two exchanges (Coinstore and Biconony) are already confirmed to list both WXX and XX.

dApps

Along with essentials that the community hope to see are updates and the introduction of new dApps.

Echoexx (now Phoenixx), the web3 platform for p2p private chat and payments is due to go into Beta at some point in Q2 and have listed the following updates on the horizon:

  • wXX Integration
  • File Transfer in Chats
  • Improvements in PWA

PWAs are Progressive Web Apps, i.e. they plan to make the dApp look and work great on mobile platforms as if running a native app.

VoteXX makes an appearance also which is the same technology being employed in one of the recently awarded Worldcoin grants. In the interview with Mário just after that was announced, we talked about what VoteXX is at some length, and its appearance inside the XX ecosystem will cement its link to the project. The details of that are forthcoming. Also in the roadmap are some updates to how the ongoing work in the Worldcoin grant projects are getting on, including some work with Rust that Rick and a colleague are beavering away at.

A fiat-to-XX onramp is a curious addition which would be an extremely useful tool for those excluded from centralised exchanges because of location, or that would prefer a direct route rather than using DEXs. Aaron talks about it in more depth in the interview.

And finally, Doxxier – a surprise entry from something never spoken of previously, and one I personally know a little about and talk about in the interview above.
