Demo: Private Polkadot Transaction via Proxxy

On 13th November, Robbie from the XX Foundation posted a video showing the new WebAssembly implementation of Proxxy interacting with Subwallet to send a Polkadot transaction over cMixx:

This demo was not only to show this is possible but also that other Substrate-based networks can be an easy shoe-in, so long as they have an RPC Endpoint.

Bernie from Bitfashioned who works on Proxxy elaborated on the Discord:

“It builds upon the Proxxy demo for XRPL, which was the first one to use xxDK in WASM to have direct connection from the browser to Proxxy relayer (no need to install a desktop app). For this demo, that code was streamlined even more, and a provider implementation was done that fits the spec for the polkadot-js package.

The logical next step for this after the demo is that the Proxxy provider is released for example as an NPM package, which can then be imported by any wallets that support Substrate chains in order to automatically have all their requests to the chain being sent over Proxxy.

Furthermore, in this demo it’s also demonstrated using Proxxy for graphQL requests. These are also JSON RPC requests, so it didn’t require any changes to the relayer or Proxxy protocol. But it showcases another very important use case: most wallets nowadays rely on indexers to show useful information to users: transaction history, receipts, etc. In this demo we showcase that it’s not only possible to query the chain over Proxxy (get balance and nonce), submit the transaction over Proxxy, but that we can also query an indexer to get transaction history and a corresponding receipt that shows the user the transaction was accepted.

These are all things we knew were possible since cMixx is completely data agnostic, but it’s still good to validate this with a demo.

Also, if you notice, the first screen in the app is to select the substrate network to transact on, and we started with XX and added Polkadot. It’s trivial to add any other substrate chain as long as they have an available public RPC endpoint.”
